What is the hardest thing about finding information and doing research on a topic for you personally?

I will have to say that the hardest thing for me in finding research is having to research a topic that does not have good information in which you can include. It is often difficult when you are assigned a project, but the information you find is not helpful and does not answer your question. Sometimes I face difficulties finding information due to the time I put into finding the information. I find it very difficult when I cannot find information that directs to my topic. I often find many websites that are said to help find info but do not help out. I very often run into these kinds of websites. Often times the information that I find is not correct and so makes my research become weak. What I try to do is narrow down my question and search for keywords that will help me get the information needed.

Did this library research course help? In what ways did this course help you?

Overall, I think that this course was designed to help us the students obtain a better knowledge in using the internet. There are many things in which connect to using information electrionally. One of the missions in this class was to teach the students a college level of finding research and using that information in your own paper. After paying close attention to the classes that were given I personally have receive better knowledge on how to be a better student. There are many things that students must do in order to do well. One of the most important things in college is being able to research a topic and use the information in your own papers. Over this course we have clarify a better understanding of plagiarism. Plagiarism is very serious and us as students must learn the right way in not doing it. This course has helped me gain a better library knowledge overall. The knowledge that I will take from this class is on how to obtain information and the different sources there is out there. It is very important to be aware of the different sources that can also be available. I really enjoyed having Library Research class.

“Since everything is on the Internet, I don’t need books…..right?

Statement Response:

Many people might think that because most things can be found electronically, other resources may not be useful. Well this is wrong. I can say that most things can be found on the internet but not all. Now day’s people relay on the Internet to find information and may think that books are not useful. On the internet you can find great information as well as find recent published info. Books on the other hand contain very useful information with greater detail and further explanation. Just because most information can be found on the internet does not mean that books do not have the information that is needed. I personally find that books are more useful in presenting their information then on the internet. I find that books go into very good detail as well as explanation and reasoning. Books are considered harder to obtain then electronic information, but yet books are still a great resource just as or even better then the internet. In my personal view and usage I find that the internet is easier to have available but I do all the time find that books are better. My response to this statement is that not everything can be on the internet and available for all viewers to view. I think that every person is free to use the source they wish and that they find more useful and helpful. Although most information can be found on the internet this does not exclude books. Books are a great type of resource that many people do not take use of.  

Question #2 Librarians

Librarians are professionals that focus on the technical support for others. Librarians are individuals who work in providing help for the people; Librarians are available resources that help organize materials so that people can use them for there own good. It will be really cool if librarians in all libraries or other work companies provided the people with technical support via electronically. Another very cool thing that libraries should work on is being able to communicate/ chat with others on there question to a specific topic. In many libraries now, this support is already given but if this was to be given in all libraries librarians support will be so much helpful for a person to get at any time. I think that with all of this technology rising and developing more and more each day, libraries will end up not existing anymore. It will be very sad to see that one day or libraies will become a resource only to be found electronically. Libraries are great tools for reference and should continue to be. A librarian the majority of the time helps support for those seeking information and also for those trying to gain new information. Librarians are such a great help that help a library flow smooth. A library is also a great place to come in and relax, and spend time researching and finding information from more then one available resource.

Question #1: Study goals

Question: What do you hope to study when you go to college and why? How is the Pre-Collegiate program helping you meet your goals?

Over the past few months I have focus on determining what I hope to study when I enroll into a College/University. The study I hope to take on is Dentistry. There are several of reasons of why I’m interested in the field and its importance it holds. I believe that in life one of the most important things necessary in the human life is its health care. My biggest desire is earning my masters degree in Dentistry. In my opinion great smiles and protecting as well as treating the people is a from of help and support to our environment. Dentist work with different types of people and treat different diseases, injuries, and malformation of the teeth.  Dentist help a person’s appearance become comfortable and bright. I would love to become a dentist because the oral health of an individual is more important then someone might think. There are many ways of obtaining great smiles and healthy teeth. Providing a solution to the world increases other risk that might build. By being a candidate of the Pre-Collegiate program my chances of reaching my goals only make it easier for someone like me to reach its goals. The Pre-Collegiate program has helped me as a person build higher self-esteem, and build many skills that will help me become a brighter college student. The Pre-Collegiate program does not only help me become better as a person, but also increases the chances of me getting into the college I wish. The program focuses on medical fields and so prepares me as a person to grow stronger knowledge on a certain topic.
